Your home is likely to be your most valuable property. You’ve spent countless amounts of money and time making it look and feel good. Furnishing each room and adding furniture to make it your own, your joy to live in. Yet all of this can be disrupted with one lapse of judgement: not being protected from unwanted visitors. Visitors who could break in and undo all of that hard work. Imagine yourself as a monarch back in early England, a king in his castle, and think about the protection you would have had from intruders. Guards with longbows and a drawbridge over a moat would have certainly put off anyone thinking they could break in for their own personal gain.

Home Insurance is certainly a good idea as it will give you some form of protection making it easier for you to sleep at night, but is it enough? No. It’s not. What can be done about this? It’s 2010, moats and armed guards aren’t practical. Nowadays house alarms, home burglar alarms, home security systems and even Wireless Alarm Systems are the prime defence and are preferably needed to ensure your property’s security from burglars, intruders and criminals. Installing a home security systems can and will improve the safety of your family and property.

Can you imagine coming home from a grocery shopping trip only to find your house has had what looks like a tornado rip through it? Imagine papers and empty draws strewn across the floors, glass smashed, complete disrespect for your family home and an empty space where all of your prized, expensive possessions used to be. Jewellery that had been in the family for years has now vanished without a trace. The new TV you just bought and the kids’ games console that they just got for Christmas has been torn from pride of place. It’s not something you want to have to worry about. Ever.

A home alarm system is a big deterrent when it comes to burglars. Why would you get ‘hit’ if you had an alarm system installed but the house next door doesn’t? You wouldn’t, think about it. Criminals take the easy way out, not only in their choice of life but in their choice of locations to steal from.

You can understand why efficient burglar alarms are in so much of a demand these days. With the recession still floating around and unemployment at a high, people living on the edge turn to crime. Don’t be a victim. Burglar alarm systems are primarily electronic devices that are connected to a series of sensors and the alarm siren itself. All components are connected to a main control unit through either a low voltage narrowband RF signal or hardwired. When a sensor is ‘tripped’ and a connection is made between the unit and the sensor, it will start the alarm to generate an immediate response.

The most common types of alarms will be able to pick up the opening of a window or door and are generally connected using wires if possible. Wireless systems exist and can provide benefits over the wired alarm systems. Benefits can include an easier set-up, easy operation and extreme flexibility.

It is possible to find systems that are dedicated to a single purpose. There are systems that handle intrusion, fire, and other safety aspects. The main question to ask when looking to purchase a system is “is it fit for purpose and will it keep ME safe?” if “yes” then it’s the system for you.

Design and features are all down to your own specific needs and a reputable alarm will help you address this. Do you want a small alarm on only one door or an alarm system that controls the main points of access to the house? Do you want a complete computerised control system or one that can be activated/deactivated at the push of a button? All these questions need to be answered and once they are you will be one step closer to securing your castle.

Efficiency of burglar alarms depends greatly on the number of zones that are being monitored, the number of sensors you have installed and their sensitivity. Again, a reliable company will be able to talk you through the ins and outs of a new system to you. Alarm systems these days can initiate various actions such as calling the police or fire department as well as the ambulance service immediately. Other alarms can call a personalised number to alert property owners to determine if the alarm is genuine for example.

The result you want from an alarm system is for the alarm to activate when any a sensor has been triggered. Then that action should cause a reaction due to a siren or an automated call through to the police etc.

Some insurance companies require your premises have an alarm system as they consider you to be at too much of a risk if you’re not protected in that way. As you can see, the benefits of a good alarm system greatly outweigh the costs. Remember when looking for an alarm system to contact the best local alarm companies who have gained years of experience in the industry and can cater for every situation. There are companies providing alarm solutions in every local area, including Wireless Alarms Birmingham, Warwickshire, Redditch, Worcestershire, Solihull and more generally the West Midlands. Make sure you get a system that is reliable, efficient and made of high quality materials so it can stand the test of time.

Did you know that self defense devices make great gifts? What better way to show your love and appreciation than keeping your loved ones safe all year long? Self defense products make thoughtful and useful gifts – much more effective than the usual box of chocolates or bottle of body wash they may have found in their gifts in years past. They can begin carrying these devices right away. Think of all the presents you’ve bought over the years. Do the recipients still have them and use them? Chances are good that they are long gone. A good self defense device will be carried by the recipient every day and appreciated even (or perhaps especially) if it is never used.

This year, protect the whole family with keychain self defense devices. Personal alarms and canisters of pepper spray make great gifts for everyone. They require no training, and can even be used effectively by teens and even younger members of your family. No matter your family’s lifestyle, your family members may occasionally find themselves in areas where they feel unsafe. Plus, always keep in mind that violent confrontations can happen anywhere, at anytime. Even if your son or daughter is never out alone past dark, they can be assaulted just walking around the mall or to their car or bus stop.

Show your concern for your family this year by preparing them for the unexpected. Although it may feel unromantic to get your husband or wife a stun gun or TASER device, doing so could save their life, and what is more romantic than showing how concerned you are for their wellbeing?

When choosing self defense products as gifts, you aren’t restricted to plain black models. Today, many self defense products also come in camo, pink, red, and other fun colors to match the recipient’s personality. Almost all personal protection products on the market today also come in versions designed especially for women. Some are shaped like a tube or lipstick or a cell phone, while others come in colorful “designer” shades. Choose a pepper spray pen for those who work in the office, or pepper spray jogging weights for those who love to run. Giving the gift of self defense doesn’t have to be boring or impersonal.

For kids, choose a panda-shaped personal alarm, a nonthreatening way to help your children protect themselves from dangers, whether they are simply wandering off in a store or have been grabbed by a kidnapper. If they stray too far from you, the alarm will start beeping, alerting you to the problem and allowing you to find your child before they fall into harm’s way.

If you’re looking at self defense products as gifts, rest assured, they are not very expensive. Pepper spray canisters and personal alarms can be found for less than $20. A top of the line stun gun will rarely cost over $100. Giving the gift of self defense is a relatively inexpensive way to show how much you care. Can you imagine giving the gift that ens up saving a loved one’s life someday?

No home should be without a good home security system. Perhaps this statement seems a little ridiculous because it seems so obvious. But the fact of the matter is that most of us think we have enough protection when we really don’t. Most of us invest in home alarms and go no further, thinking that the job is done. While having any system is better than no protection at all, a good home alarm is not the end of the story.

Have you ever considered the fact that burglars are not the only threat to your home? We buy good systems so that we can protect our families and precious belongings from intruders. These systems are invaluable and no home should be without the proper protection. That being said, every day we are seeing more creative innovations and breakthroughs in the home security industry.

Did you know, for instance, that companies that are responsible for developing new technologies have found ways to protect your home not just against burglars, but also against environmental factors such as extreme heat and cold? Environmental factors can cause a great deal of damage to your home. However, because many of us believe that there is nothing that we can do about them, we don’t take any action.

Five years ago, perhaps it was true that we didn’t have any power when it came to dealing with environmental factors. But this is hardly the case today. Today, the reality is that there are many ingenious products available to help us improve the protection of our homes by counteracting damage that may be caused by these factors.

In your home, without the proper detection devices, there are many different kinds of problems that can arise. The most damage is usually caused by extreme cold. For this reason, one of the most popular devices used by home owners to counteract the cold is the freeze alarm. Installing one of these alarms is simple and inexpensive, especially when you consider the money they can save you in damage bills.

A freeze alarm is designed to monitor the temperature inside your home. There are many different companies that make these alarms, and they come in my different models and vary greatly in price. Make sure that you do the proper research and speak with professionals before making a purchase to ensure that you get the right alarm for your house. No matter which freeze alarm you choose, it will alert you when the temperature in your home is nearly freezing.

If you are not home to hear the alarm, this system will actually send a voice message to your cellular phone. In this way, you are always protected. No matter where you are, when you get the message from this alarm, either by hearing it or via phone, you can take action. There are few things more difficult to deal with than pipes that burst because of freezing weather. In addition to the damage that they cause to your home, they can be very expensive to fix.

Avoid the hassle of weather-related damage. Consider upgrading your overall home security system with a freeze alarm.

You are taking a big risk if you do not have a home security system installed. Your family, your home and all your possessions could be in jeopardy by not having a security strategy to protect and defend against an intruder attack. So many people continue to bury their heads in the sand and simply don’t think it will happen to them. At some point throughout your life your will experience a burglary or will know someone close to you who has been burgled so don’t be naïve and trust to chance that it won’t happen to you.

When asked, most people admit they really do want a home security system but that it is not a high priority on their list of home improvements – mainly due to the expense of purchasing and installing such a system. Fortunately, it is as not as expensive as you first think. Alarm systems are not only far cheaper than they once were but are more sophisticated too. The good news is that the cost of a home security installation can be reduced substantially if you install it yourself. Believe it or not, most average DIY’ers can easily install a home security system so there is no need to invest in a professional alarm installation company to carry out the work. And there is an ideal security system that can be easily self installed and that is the wireless home security system.

The most important step when self installing your wireless alarm system is planning. It’s best to sketch out a plan layout of your property to help decide where the various components of the system will go. Observe the entry/exit points into your property and decide on one common way in and out. You will want to install the main control panel somewhere close to this location in your property. Although many wireless alarm systems come complete with a wireless keyfob to arm/disarm the system, you will still need easily access to the control panel’s keypad in case the keyfob does not work (e.g. the batteries have gone flat).

Make sure the siren/bell box is installed well out of reach and choose whether you want it visible (which acts as a great natural deterrent) or hidden from view. Some people opt for a silent alarm that simply contacts an alarm monitoring center when triggered.

There are a variety of wireless alarm sensors available so plan for the most beneficial location for these devices. For door and window sensors – allow for as many external doors and windows that your property has. Consider upstairs windows as well as downstairs as burglars climb in through upper level windows using ladders that are left lying around outside. For detecting movement inside your property install PIR movement detectors. These devices detect a change any heat that passes across the prism. Decide which interior rooms would most benefit from these devices. Ideally all interior rooms should have a PIR sensor but just install the rooms with the most valuables items in the first instance to help keep the cost down. The beauty of a wireless alarm system is that extra devices can be added at a later date – without the need to get professional installers back in.

For your safety it is recommended that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors be installed and added to your wireless system as these devices could save your life. Thousands of people die every year in house fires and in most cases could be prevented if they simply had a smoke detector installed. Carbon monoxide detectors sense the poisonous gas which is odourless, colorless and tasteless and can be emitted from faulty gas appliances.

These days, home burglary is one the rise. Over 70% of all crime these days relates to property crimes, normally involving the home. Although police and local authorities are doing everything they can to put a stop to crime, burglary is something that cannot be stopped. Even though there are ways to protect yourself, burglars will always be lurking out there – waiting for their next victim.

Even though there are ways to prevent unwanted entry to your home, a determined burglar will always find a way to get in. Breaking and entering is his job, and most burglars are extremely good at it. Statistics show that burglaries occur every 15 seconds. What that means, is that every 15 seconds there is someone out there getting robbed.

Over the years, home burglaries have received a lot of attention, some of which have even been on the news. Although some burglars eventually get caught and arrested, most seem to disappear without a trace. To protect yourself and your home, there are tactics such as security alarms, burglar alarms, and even security cameras that you can use.

Property marking is a great way to protect yourself as well. Property marking involves marking everything that you own with a signature or mark that you can easily identify once the property has been recovered. You can use micro dots, UV pens, or even laser pens. The idea here is to mark your property so it won’t be easy to sell on the black market. Even though it may sound weird, most burglars do study their targets quite a bit before they decide to rob them.

One of the most effective forms of home security is the home security system. If a burglar tries to rob your home and notices that you have a security system set up, he will normally start to get second thoughts and eventually change his plans. On the other hand, if the burglar decides to go ahead and rob a home with a surveillance system anyway, the system will normally catch him on video, making it easy for the police to identify who he is. Home surveillance and security cameras are great to have, and can either be wireless or wired, dummy or real, outdoor or indoor, or even a combination of several.

Alarms are also a great way to prevent burglary. The police will tell you that home burglar alarms prevent over 50% of attempted burglaries in the home. There are several types of burglar alarms, from those that aren’t expensive to those that are monitored around the clock. Alarms will let burglars know that robbing your home isn’t going to be easy, and that they should really give it a second thought. Tried and true over the years, alarms have be proven to be very effective and above all else – they work.

No matter what direction you decide to take, there are indeed ways that you can protect your home from burglary. In the United States, home security systems have really become a big business. Millions of home owners throughout the U.S. are investing in security and surveillance systems, knowing that the day will come when they will come in very handy. Even though you may never be robbed, there is always a chance. Burglaries can happen at any time, which is why you should always be protected. If you think ahead and invest in a security system, you’ll be prepared for anything that happens. You have to think in terms of self defense – and ensure that your home is protected for anyone who decides to make you a target.

For most Americans their home is their most valuable asset. Only about 20% of Americans do anything to protect their home aside from insurance. Why when a home burglary happens every 15 seconds? Homeowners make it so easy.

When the crooks go casing a neighborhood they are looking for homes that looks affluent and places to hide near windows and doors. They want to pick out a home that has no signage about alarms, dogs or security systems. In other words they want no trouble. Fast in, fast out.

If you can put up some obstacles to their goal of ripping you off they may choose another target which, no offense, Mr. Neighbor is exactly what you want. Get someone else.

This is why home security systems have become so popular-they actually prevent crimes from happening. But man, oh man, are they expensive! A guard dog or a sign that says you have a guard dog and a do it yourself home security system are a lot cheaper and will do the same thing-keep the bad guys out of your castle.

A USB DVR wired surveillance system costs just under $500 and gives you 4 day/night color bullet cameras, brackets to mount the cameras, 100 feet of cable for each camera and a powerful USB DVR surveillance hardware that converts your home or office computer into a global surveillance system in less than five minutes.

In short everything you need and world class customer service just in case you get stuck. This is a great system for your primary residence or a vacation home in a remote location. It connects to the internet allowing viewing from anywhere in the world.

Chances are if you are reading this that crime has touched your life in some way or you consider yourself at risk. Take the next step and do something to protect yourself! Your home and possessions are worth far more than the cost of a home security system.

So consider getting a home security system for your home. They are easy to install, more affordable than before and will work to eliminate a very real threat of robbery.

Can you use a surveillance system for home, office or business? You actually can’t afford to not have one! They send a message to burglars-’we are watching so don’t mess with us.’

If you think crime can only happen to the other guy you are wrong. The “other guy” is thinking the same thing and YOU are that “other guy”. There is a reason why they call it self defense. You have to protect yourself, your family, your home and business!

As many already know, adequate lighting is a critical part of keeping your home safe. Even though lighting is very important to home safety, a lot of homeowners don’t look at their lighting as being an integral aspect of safety. No matter where you may live, you should always make sure that there is plenty of lighting in place and that the lights are out of reach for those without a ladder.

The lighting that is around the doors of your home is very important, as most burglars like to focus on doors before anything else. When it comes to the doors of your home, any lighting at all is better than no lighting. If a burglar sees lights around your home, chances are he’ll move on. If the lights are off however, the burglar will more than likely proceed as planned.

If you own a garage, you should always use an automatic garage opener. Once they have been activated, most will automatically turn on the lights. Your carport is also important to safety. If you are going to be away from home, you should always make sure that the leave the light on your carport on. You can also use motion detected lights as well. When these lights detect any type of movement, they will automatically turn on – which could easily startle a burglar.

For the exterior of your home, motion detected lights are the way to go. If you have a large backyard, you should always make sure that you use motion detected lights. To be on the safe side, you can always connect an alarm to the lights. This way if someone was to move through your yard, the lights would sound the alarm. Burglars don’t like alarms and they will normally flee the instant they hear an alarm sound.

If you are planning to use motion sensors in your front yard, you should make sure that you have planned the locations carefully. People walking by the sensor or kids playing nearby can easily trigger it. When you set the motion sensors up you should always make sure that you hook lights up to them as well. This way, those in your family will know where the motion detectors are and they can easily avoid them.

Having the right amount of lighting around your home will go a long way in keeping your family safe. Burglars don’t like to be around light, which is why it is so very important. If you don’t have a lot of lights around your home, you should do something about it. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy – all you need is enough lighting to make sure that a burglar thinks twice about breaking into your home.
