This is a nice book and has some great pictures of how to decorate with a white palette. This book encompasses a number of different design styles – modern, romantic, Swedish, etc. So there’s something for everyone. The rooms themselves are warm and inviting. I lean towards the romantic/shabby chic style and there’s plenty of pictures in the book for me. A lot of the items displayed are vintage/antique finds which can be difficult and pricey to source but the rooms are very pretty and inspiring. There is a good list of antique shops and suppliers at the back of the book but not sure how accurate it is given the publishing date was 2007.
I would recommend the book and it fits in well with my collection of Rachel Ashwell and cottage style decorating books.

I love to look at white rooms. There’s supposedly 1000 shades of white. For many of us it’s difficult to create white rooms that aren’t too cold or sterile in appearance. That’s why this book is invaluable as it illustrates how to successfully design rooms of white that are warm, welcoming and stylish. The rooms range from modern to country to traditional. You’ll see how to accessorize them and use texture to make them inviting. Full of lovely pictures and descriptive text, if you want to learn how to design a white room, this book should be helpful to you.

Gorgeous photos and inspiration. She provides information on the use of the different shades of white, texture, pattern and display. And an introduction to creating different looks separated into: country, modern, romantic, classic, beach cottage. Elegant and relaxed. I also love Tricia Foley’s white Christmas, she is a pioneer and incredible.

I have to admit I was disappointed with this book. I expected more decorated rooms not just snapshots of things white. Books on white that are more to my style and liking are by Tricia Foley, Stephanie Hoppen and editors of Victoria magazine. They are brimming with wonderful ideas.

I love this book. Even though my style is more Pottery Barn (Yes, I am sure Atlanta Bartlett is cringing if she ever reads this review), I am a lover of white. This book captures the essence of white and will now become my “go to” for all things white.
Just the other day, I bought this dark stained ratty thrift store dresser and in my mind I wanted it to become a worn shade of white. I was not sure how to execute this look but after spending some time looking over the pages of this book, I had the confidence to achieve the look I wanted.
This book is about how to use white with texture, accent colour, pattern and display. Atlanta Bartlett takes you through several themes: classic, romantic, beach, country and modern. There is really something here for all styles.
If you do any decorating, either your own personal home or professionally, then this book needs to be in your library. This is the Bible on all things white.
Think Shabby Chic meets Anthropology meets Vintage Eclectic.
