I am glad to have watched the video. I liked the system of cutting the blocks for the girders and how the joists were layed out and lapped, cut by eye. They do a lot of cutting by eye, and they do it good. They are fast and quick, how I want to be. He did a good job with showing the stairs also. those carpenters even have a sense of humor! must watch for beginning framer.

Easy to follow, great for basic framing priciples. Get all three videos and you will have a better knowledge of framing. Besides, learning from a man that has dedicated his life to economy framing is pretty cool. Larry rocks and so do the videos and his book.

“Framing Floors & Stairs,” with Larry Haun, is just one of a series of 3 DVD’s that will explain, and show you exactly how to build your own home. The other two DVD’s are titled, “Framing Walls,” and “Framing Roofs.” In this complete series, along with a book entitled “The Very Efficient Carpenter,” Larry, goes into very specific detail on how to handle each step of the home-building process as you watch him and his brother Joe build a 1600 square-foot home from the foundation to the rooftop. Each DVD in this series is very well organized into different chapters. Therefore, if you need some clairificaton on nailing off the rim joists, for example, it’s just a matter of revisiting that chapter until you understand the concept.
